What is (Not) Work Week?
Each spring, driven by righteous purpose, we congregate in the forest for a full week of stewardship. The purpose: community service projects. Here are some of the projects we have completed in recent years:
- Mostly rebuilt the Kaymoor trail from the Hole to Butcher's Branch.
- Installed fencing and revegetated both Bridge Buttress and Junkyard Wall.
- Installed risers at Junkyard Wall, erasing once and for all the crag’s namesake trash heap.
- Completely reimagined and rebuilt the Tattoo Wall trail at Sandstonia.
- Completed an entirely new trail connecting the American Alpine Club campground to climbing at North Bridge. You can easily reach two entirely different climbing areas from the campground without getting into a car.
- Terraced and fenced the landing zone at Butcher's Branch.

Schedule
Project details:
Daily schedule (May 14th - May 21st):
Every day, we will wake up with a warm cup of coffee and breakfast that is provided to all volunteers. We will have a table set up with waivers for those who have not signed it yet.
9am - 3pm: Let's get after it! We will head to the worksites from the campground and spend the day building things, playing in the dirt, and having fun in the woods.
3pm: Relax, climb, take a dip in the river- whatever your heart calls to, this is unstructured play/unwind time.
7pm: Dinner is provided to all volunteers.
Friday, May 20th
It's a celebration! Let's have a cookout and admire all the hard work that was accomplished during the week.
- At Kaymoor, we will tackle the last 300 ft of trail to the Butcher’s Branch Trail - this section proves to be the most technically challenging so if you like wrestling rocks, this is the project for you!
- We will also work at the Bridge Buttress to complete the large rehab project.
- The trail to North Bridge Wall will get a makeover as well as hopefully putting some signage in.
