NRAC Needs Your Help!

On Saturday
What: Harvest stones from Summersville Lake to use for new Whippoorwill trail in June
When: Saturday, April 9 @ 9:00 AM
Where: Whippoorwill area (see directions below)
What to Bring: Close-toed shoes, your own food and water, etc.

Come help harvest stones from the lake bed in preparation for a trail project at Whippoorwill this June. This trail is in desperate need of improvement and the lake stones will provide the raw materials to make that happen.

Directions: From the intersection of Court St. 16 and Hwy. 19 in Fayetteville drive north on Hwy 19 for 20.8 miles. Just before crossing the bridge over Summersville Lake turn left onto Whippoorwill Rd. The road immediately bends to the right avoiding a private drive. A short distance down this road is another private drive to the left then just past that is a dirt road on the left. Pull off to the side of the road here and park. There is additional parking further down the road.

On Sunday
What: Plastic cleanup for recycling, join with boaters and other local folks
When: Sunday, April 10 @ 11:30 AM
Where: Hawk's Nest / Cotton Hill / Cotton Top parking (see directions below)
What to Bring: Close-toed shoes, your own food and water, etc.

Over the past few years, high water has created a huge accumulation of plastic near the Hawk’s Nest / Cotton Hill / Cotton Top climbing area. Join with other non-climbers and the Plateau Action Network to gather plastic for recycling.

Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 19 and Court St. 16 in Fayetteville drive North on 16 for 7.0 miles. You’ll come down a big hill that parallels a beautiful stream with multiple waterfalls. At the bottom of the hill, 7.0 miles from Hwy 19, you will cross over the New River. Immediately after the bridge is a large parking lot on the right. Park here.

Thanks!
