There are many ways that climbers can help conserve the climbing resources in the New River Gorge and surrounding areas. Below are just some of the ways that you can become part of NRAC's efforts. Volunteer at the RendezvousThe annual New River Rendezvous is a great way to meet other climbers who love the area and be a part of the party. The Rendezvous is largely run by volunteers who do everything from flip pancakes to greet people at the main gate. For the latest information on how you can volunteer at the Rendezvous, check out the Rendezvous website Join our Mailing ListWe're building our mailing list to keep climbers informed about what's going on in the Gorge. We try to keep emails to a reasonable volume and you can always unsubscribe. Help us keep you updated by signing up for the newsletter on the right side of every page in the website. Make a DonationHey, let's face it - we're a small, non-profit local climbing organization. The New River Rendezvous is our big fundraiser, but we always appreciate any size donation. Your donation can help fund the ultra-important Anchor Replacement Initiative that keeps climbing safe in the Gorge. To donate, click the 'Donate' button on the right side of every page. Donations are processed through PayPal - any major credit card is accepted - no PayPal account needed. Participate in Adopt-a-Crag DaysAbout once a year we have an Adopt-a-Crag day. Adopt-a-Crag days are sponsored by the Access Fund, and generally focus on projects such as trail maintenance. They're really important to protecting the climbing resource and a lot of fun. Generally, they are a half-day to full-day. We'll announce Adopt-a-Crag days here and in the Local Updates section as we plan them. Keep an eye out! Educate Yourself About Access IssuesFinally, if you are too busy to volunteer or don't feel much like donating, one really important thing you can do is educate yourself about the local issues. Check out the Climbing Access section and read the Climbing Management Plan. Or, join our mailing list. At the very least, talk to fellow climbers when you are in the area and pay attention to climbing-related issues. Recent ProjectsJuly 3, 2010 - Bubba City Kiosk and Fencing |
