Upcoming project: Junkyard Wall trail day, 8/31 - 9/6, 2010
The Junkyard is close to the road and is a great place to drop topropes on a variety of traditional routes.
Access:
From Court St. in Fayetteville, head north on highway 19 for 2.3 miles. Turn left onto Ames Heights Rd. and follow it for 0.6 miles. At the three way split in the road, turn sharp left at a big sign for Class VI River Rafting. Drive down this road for 0.3 miles. There will be a couple different pull-offs on the left. Pull straight in, leaving room for other cars. Hike down the road 100 yards to where the road makes a tight switchback. There are two “Junkyard Trail” signs at the switchback. The trail that heads into the woods at the right edge of the guardrail leads to the top of the cliff. The other “Junkyard Trail” sign is located near a stone retaining wall. Step over the wall and walk down the steep trail to the base of the cliff.
